Wednesday, July 27, 2011DistinctiveImpression MMG was invite to a presentation by VU TelePresence hosted at the Commerce Club Atlanta.
How does this very from Skype, imeeting , oVoo and the countless other meeting tool accessed online?
Price and privacy controls.
Granted, while the presentation by Atlanta District Manager Abdul Ashi-Suliaman was impressive.
The product in itself has a few limitations . VU can only connect a maximum of 9 people at one time. Web based users must download software to run the application. The product is not supports on Mac or mobile device which do not support flash 10. On a wireless connection the product may preform on a less the desirable level making communication shakey. Lastly the VU system is equipment to the size of a 1990’s computer system.
Now for the good news. VU is easy to use and can be setup in less than 15mins. It allows for screen sharing and operates on a low bandwidth. The picture quality of the video is crisp using either a 720p or 1080p camera with wireless controls, which allow you to pan the room 360 degrees. VU has a partnership with Best Buy so clients can get a concession on display monitors (monitor is not included with system). The desktop mic picks up the human voice at 4400Hz and the presentation is carried over a secure server. Best yet the system can be purchased out right at $2,000 or leased under a three years contract for 3yrs at $69 a month.FYI: It makes sense to buy outright.
VU is a great product for venue presentations when you want to invite speakers from out of town with tight schedules, host a remote demonstration or engage with current or prospective clients. VU has already captured 4% of the small to medium sized business market share within the past seven months on the market.
Vu is definitely an exciting product for those looking to reduce over head cost associated with meeting, travel and training. I encourage you to visit vutelepresence.com to find out more.
